2019 Fútbol Emotion Battle: Tournament Dates, Venues, and How to Participate

The 2019 Fútbol Emotion Battle brings a unique football competition closer to home, now open to all footballers – both goalkeepers and outfield players. This multi-city tournament features a ranking system, age-based categories, and a grand final in Zaragoza. Read on for the full schedule, rules, and registration details.

The Battle Ranking System

The Battle Ranking is a points-based competition across the four venues. Participants compete in separate tournaments for goalkeepers and outfield players, held on the same pitch at each location. Key benefits of winning a ranking battle include:

Free entry to the grand final in Zaragoza on 15 June
A badge featuring a different shirt at the Zaragoza battle, certifying the winner of a ranking battle

Even if you do not win a ranking battle, you can still register for the final in Zaragoza. Participants may sign up for multiple venues, including the grand final.

Participation Details

Who Can Take Part?

The tournament is open to both goalkeepers and outfield players.

Goalkeepers register for the Goalkeepers’ Tournament.
Outfield players register for the Outfield Players’ Tournament.
You can take part in both tournaments at the same venue by completing two separate registrations and noting in the comments that you are entering both battles.

Age Categories (2018/2019 Season)

Benjamín: Born 2009–2010 (7-a-side)
Alevín: Born 2007–2008 (7-a-side)
Infantil: Born 2005–2006 (11-a-side)
Cadete: Born 2003–2004 (11-a-side)
Juvenil: Born 2000–2002 (11-a-side)
Senior: Born 1999 or earlier (11-a-side)

Girls’ Category

There is a girls’ category. Depending on the number of entrants, Futbol Emotion reserves the right to allow boys and girls to compete together in mixed teams. The winner is the competitor of their own gender who progresses furthest within their category.

Registration and Event Logistics

Timetables and Match-Ups

Match-ups and timetables for each Battle are published on the website in the days leading up to the event, often the day before.

Group Stage and Knockout Rounds

After all group stage matches finish, there is a one-hour break to draw up the final brackets. These are displayed at the football ground, and knockout rounds then begin within each category.

Welcome Pack

Every registered participant receives a welcome pack containing a T-shirt (must be worn during matches) and a gym bag. Participants are guaranteed a minimum of three group-stage matches; the top two from each group advance to the knockout rounds.

Collecting Your Welcome Pack

Packs must be collected a few days before the event from the Futbol Emotion shop in each city. You may exchange the event T-shirt for a different size at the shop. If you cannot visit the shop, you may indicate during registration that you will collect the pack 30 minutes before the start of the event (9:30 am) at the venue.

On-Site Shop and Services

A shop selling Futbol Emotion products is available only at the grand final in Zaragoza on 15 June. At other venues, participants can visit the local Futbol Emotion shop in the same city. A physiotherapist will be available exclusively at the grand final.

Advance Registration Required

All participants must register in advance via the website or by telephone at least four days before the event. On-the-day registration is not permitted.

Photos of the rankings are published on the website and on the Futbol Emotion Academy Facebook page in the days following each event.
