adidas launched its Energy Mode pack for the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia, featuring a bold new colorway for each of its four silos: Predator, X, Nemeziz, and Copa. The pack blends historical references with modern design, offering a mix of vibrant and flashy finishes across the control, speed, agility, and skin boot categories.
adidas Predator – The Control Boot

At first sight, the adidas Predator football boot shows no change in technical characteristics—expected, since the model had been on the market for only six months. Observers familiar with Predator history will notice the fluorescent yellow colorway is a wink to the iconic 1998 Predator Accelerator, the first adidas boot to appear in an aggressive non-white or non-black color. That original was sold as a limited edition and is now considered one of the most difficult models to find among collectors.

Today’s adidas Predator is a modernised boot with a Primeknit upper and 3D relief, a sock construction that places it in the mid-to-top tier, BOOST technology in the insole for impact absorption, and an aggressive soleplate with ridged studs. These are the boots that will be worn by Paul Pogba, Koke, and Rakitic in Russia.
adidas X18 – The Speed Boot

The adidas X18 was the greatest surprise of the pack, strongly reminiscent of the iconic F50 adizero. The placement of the three stripes echoes the 2013 F50 model. The main difference in this new version lies in the latest adidas technologies, and, as is now usual with the German brand, the boot is laceless.

It features an upper made from Skeletalwave synthetic microfiber—thinner and lighter than the previous generation. The outer heel counter adopts the new Speedframe plate, more reactive than the X17, with triangular studs positioned on the metatarsal bone area to provide extra traction during demanding actions.
adidas Nemeziz 18 – The Agility Boot

The protagonist of the 2017 collection receives a generational leap that can be described as a restyling, similar to the evolution from X16 to X17. A standout detail is the new sock: it is higher on the inner lateral side, achieving a better fit than its predecessor and eliminating the tendon seam that caused irritation and blisters.

The Agilitybandage technology remains the differentiating element of this silo, wrapping the entire foot arch. The Agilityknit toe cap has been replaced with a slightly more padded synthetic microfiber. The sole remains unchanged.
adidas Copa – The Skin Boot

It is a pity that this model will not appear on the feet of World Cup players, as adidas has decided to keep it out of the spotlight—even though it features possibly the most daring colorway ever seen in the Copa silo.

The characteristics remain the same: the adidas Copa stands out for its unrivaled comfort, fantastic touch, and excellent fit, thanks to modern materials such as the Techfit heel counter and a top-quality sole identical to that of the adidas Ace 16+ top tier from two years ago.
