Every now and then, adidas revisits its rich heritage with a direct appeal to football boot collectors and players who cherish classic designs. The latest release, the Eternal Class Pack, revives three iconic models from the German brand’s archive. Although these particular remakes might not have topped everyone’s personal wish list, the unexpected selection proves that adidas still knows how to stir emotion among enthusiasts.
The current market may feel flooded with special editions, but that does not dampen the excitement around each launch. Instead, it raises questions about the durability modern boots offer compared to previous generations. The 2006 adidas Copa Mundial and the 2006 adidas Predator Absolute serve as prime examples of that era.

Three Boots from the adidas Eternal Class Pack
The three-stripe brand has once again drawn from its vast archive to create the “Eternal Class” collection. This set combines the 2006 Predator Absolute, updated for today’s game, with the 1998 adidas Predator Accelerator. The first two boots feature winter white leather accented with gold and black details, while the Accelerator adopts a bold all-black finish. Both designs aim to deliver luxury and match-day performance simultaneously.

adidas Predator Absolute Eternal Class
The Predator Absolute may not be the most beloved Predator in history, but its visual appeal is widely acknowledged. Released around the 2006 World Cup in Germany, it featured a slightly smaller tongue than its predecessor while retaining the range’s signature look. The original “power pulse” sole, which offered interchangeable insoles, is absent from this remake. A reinforced heel provides extra grip and support in that area.

This version of the Predator Absolute evokes memories of Kaká at the 2006 World Cup. The colourway also strongly resembles David Beckham’s Absolute Swerve from the same tournament.

adidas Copa Mundial Eternal Class
The Copa Mundial receives more noticeable updates, yet its core identity remains unchanged. Premium K‑leather forms the upper, preserving the comfort and feel that have defined this model for decades. The signature tongue has been lowered, leaving little room for lacing errors. The most significant modification sits beneath the foot: the soleplate now comes from the modern COPA 20+, offering stability and traction suited to contemporary football.

Two additional Copa Mundial variants round out the collection, both presented in clean white. One is designed for natural grass, the other for indoor surfaces. K‑leather combines with suede overlays to enhance durability for small-sided matches.

adidas Predator Accelerator Eternal Class
Two and a half years after the celebrated Predator Accelerator Yellow Electricity and the 1998 remake, adidas brings back the Accelerator once more. The natural leather upper carries the “Predator Element” – rubber ridges on the toe that were introduced in 1994 on the original Predator. Over time these elements shrank, but they remained essential to both the brand’s marketing and players’ ability to generate extra spin on curved shots.

Some details of the original masterpiece could not be replicated. The Eternal Class version uses “mouse-tail” laces, which are wider at the ends than the section that tightens. The studs also differ: the 1998 boot had laminated studs (still depicted on the insole), whereas this remake uses conical studs on a lighter, more pitch‑adapted soleplate. After all, these boots are built for playing, not for display. adidas also extends the design to street trainers, incorporating Boost technology for off‑pitch comfort.
