Adidas and Nike each adapted track-and-field woven‑upper technology to football footwear a year ago. Adidas introduced the Samba Primeknit based on the adizero F50 platform, using Primeknit material. Nike followed with a high‑cut design using Flyknit material. In futsal, Nike launched the Elastico Superfly IC as part of the NikeFootballX collection, which also includes the MercurialX Proximo and MagistaX Proximo.
Now Adidas has brought the same woven‑upper technology to futsal with the Primeknit 2.0 Boost. This model combines Primeknit and Boost technology, marking a significant step forward for indoor play.
Design and Heel Construction
One of the first noticeable details is the high‑cut heel, inspired by the Ultra Boost running shoe released weeks earlier. This design piece improves fit and adds comfort around the Achilles tendon.
Primeknit Upper and Ball Touch
The upper is made from Primeknit, a woven material already proven in running shoes for its elasticity and lightness. To enhance ball control, Adidas has applied a very thin layer on top of the Primeknit, increasing durability and providing extra grip.
Tongue and One‑Piece Fit
The tongue is attached to the base of the shoe, creating a seamless one‑piece feel. This wraps around the instep and delivers a compressive effect, improving overall fit and stability.
Boost Midsole Cushioning
Another key feature is the Boost midsole material, previously used in the Messi Boost and adidas freefootball boost. Originally developed for track and field, Boost offers excellent cushioning and energy return.
Outsole and Traction
The outsole follows the same design as other Boost‑line shoes, made from rubber. A squared pattern provides reliable grip and traction for all types of movements, with additional reinforcement in the heel area.
