Design Philosophy: Football Silhouette, Street Fit
Although the X18+ Adizero is an adaptation of a football boot, adidas designed it with a street trainer in mind. The last is wider than that of a football boot, and the fit is intentionally less close-fitted than what is required on the pitch.
Upper Construction and Features
The upper is crafted from a synthetic microfiber nearly identical to the material used on the new adidas X 18.1. The fabric closely resembles the Speedmesh found on that model, and the same drilling distribution is used to promote ventilation and keep the shoe lightweight. The laces inherit the position and layout of the X 18.1 but with the thicker, wider fit typical of a trainer.
Heel Modifications for Comfort
The heel has been refined: the back of the heel counter is slightly shortened, and the padding in that area has been increased to improve comfort.

The biggest difference between the football boot and the trainer lies in the sole. adidas chose Boost—the most comfortable material in its catalog, also used in the brand’s running models.
