The new Atlético de Madrid jersey draws inspiration from the 1947 kits worn when the club adopted its current name. Featuring larger painted-style stripes, a hidden “A” detail, and advanced Nike Drifit ADV technology, the shirt celebrates 75 years of the club’s identity.
Design Inspiration
The new home kit pays homage to the jerseys worn in 1947, the year the club dropped “Atlético-Aviación” from its name and became known as Atlético de Madrid.
To achieve this retro look, designers opted for larger stripes that cover the entire front, painted in an oil-like finish to reinforce the tribute. The central white stripe remains clearly visible, just as it was on the original jersey.
Front and Back Details
A notable feature on the front is the letter “A” formed by the horizontal stripe – another nod to the club’s name. The stripes continue around to the back but leave a solid red panel where players’ names and numbers will be displayed.
The Spanish flag appears on the back of the collar, a customary touch for the red-and-white club. This 75th-anniversary tribute is also featured on the away kit.
Technical Features
The jersey is made from 100% recycled polyester, a technique Nike has used for years, reflecting the brand’s commitment to the environment.
