A dedicated social media campaign invited fans worldwide to submit their own concepts, and the result is a kit that truly belongs to the passionate BVB community.
How the Winning Design Was Chosen
More than 15,000 designs were entered. A jury that included club legend Marco Reus shortlisted nine finalists that combined all the key elements required by both Borussia Dortmund and Puma. Fans then voted on the shortlist, and the winning entry came from a supporter named Timo R. The photo shows Timo alongside Marco Reus, celebrating the selection of his creation.
Design Inspiration: A Tribute to Matchday at Signal Iduna Park
The chosen design moves away from the club’s traditional vertical stripes. Instead, it uses Borussia Dortmund’s classic yellow and black colors and incorporates a graphic inspired by the surroundings of Signal Iduna Park. The designer aimed to capture the three things every player sees on a home matchday: the yellow and black colors, the fans, and the stadium itself. These three elements are blended together to create a distinctive look.
Technical Details: Puma Ultraweave Technology
For the elite version of the jersey, Puma applied its ultraweave technology. This ensures the shirt is extremely lightweight and offers excellent breathability, without adding any extra weight during play.
A Historic Fan-Designed Kit
