As the world prepares to honor Kobe and Gianna Bryant at their memorial service on February 24, a striking on-field tribute caught the attention of football fans. Getafe CF winger Kenedy laced up a pair of one-of-a-kind purple and gold custom boots during his team’s La Liga clash with FC Barcelona. The boots, designed to celebrate Kobe Bryant’s legacy, turned heads at the Camp Nou and sparked widespread admiration online.
The Tribute Design
The boot’s visual impact is immediate, with a bold purple and gold color scheme that mirrors the Los Angeles Lakers’ iconic palette. The artwork pays homage to Kobe Bryant’s greatness through intricate detailing across the upper.
- On the outer side of the left boot, a signature Kobe Bryant graphic image is featured.
- On the outer side of the right boot, a quote appears: “If you’re afraid to fail, then you’re probably going to fail.”

The Boot Technology
The base for the custom work is a pair of laceless adidas X 19+ cleats. The three parallel stripes are subtly hidden beneath the purple and gold overlay. The X 19+ was chosen for its clean, uninterrupted surface, which provides an ideal canvas for detailed artwork.
Adidas equipped this version of the X with X-Layskin, a new material construction. A foam inner skeleton provides structure, covered by a very thin outer film layer. That outer layer features textured lines that offer extra grip on the ball while maintaining maximum touch and feel due to the material’s thinness.
The Artist Behind the Customization
The boots were customized by French artist SILNI. Images of the finished product were shared by photographer and designer ismaelarrova.
