FC Barcelona officially presented their new second kit on Wednesday 26 July. The predominantly white shirt features subtle blue and maroon detailing. It made its on-field debut during the club’s pre-season tour of the United States, when Barça faced Arsenal.
Design Inspiration from Club History
The all-white look is not new for Barcelona. The current design draws directly from the jersey the team wore in the 1970s, when Dutch legend Johan Cruyff was the star player.
White kits have a longer tradition at the club. In the 1950s, when Hungarian forward László Kubala played in Catalonia, his Barcelona side also took to the field in predominantly white shirts.
Return of the Classic Crest
A notable detail on the new away jersey is the reintroduction of the old Barcelona crest, the version used by the club between 1975 and 2002.
