New Balance Football has moved quickly to reveal the home jersey for FC Porto for the upcoming season. The design has already sparked debate among fans, particularly due to the choice of colour for the decorative details.
Design and Inspiration
The new home shirt features thinner blue stripes that are more numerous than those on the current season’s kit. This pattern closely recalls the jersey worn during the legendary 2002/03 Liga NOS campaign, which ended with the club lifting the UEFA Cup after a final victory over Celtic in Seville.
Kit Details
The shirt adopts a V-neck design for a more modern look. Inside the collar, the slogan “NAÇÃO PORTO” is printed, reinforcing club identity. However, the bright yellow used for the sponsor’s logo has drawn criticism from supporters, as the colour stands out prominently on the traditional blue and white kit.
Shorts and Socks
The designers have extended the blue and white colour scheme to the rest of the kit. The shorts are entirely blue, while the socks are predominantly white with a blue detail and the inscription “FC Porto” in yellow. This maintains a distinctive and unified look for the full uniform.
Goalkeeper Kit
