How the System Works

The GPS PLAYR setup consists of three simple components: a mobile device, a special vest (SmartVest), and the SmartPod GPS device.

SmartPod GPS Device

The heart of the system is the SmartPod – a small, lightweight, wirelessly rechargeable unit. It combines two key technologies: an advanced GPS tracker and an accelerometer. Together they measure speed, distance, sprints, and heat mapping.

SmartVest

The SmartVest is made from a flexible, ultra-compressive four-way stretch fabric for durability and a secure fit. Although it may feel unusual at first, players quickly become accustomed to it. When the SmartPod is placed inside the vest, it turns on automatically and begins recording activity – no power button needed.

Mobile App

Activity data is accessed through the PLAYR app, available for both iOS and Android. It provides instant synchronisation of speed, distance, and power moves for each training session or match. Beyond tracking, the app offers personalised coaching features designed with Premier League coaches, covering preparation, recovery, and nutrition guidance.
