Luis Ángel Lassa coordinates the Futbol Emotion Academy technical training school in Zaragoza, oversees the Christmas clinic, and has driven numerous training successes in recent years. In this interview, he shares his background, coaching approach, and views on player development.
Background and Coaching Philosophy
Luis considers being a football coach a very important role that requires thorough preparation. He holds a degree in Physical Activity and Sports Sciences, a teaching qualification for primary education, expertise in grassroots football, and is a UEFA PRO COACH. His family’s close ties to sport instilled a love of it in him from childhood. For him, leading a group of footballers and seeing their progress—both sporting and personal—is highly rewarding.
Sporting Background
As a player, Luis represented various youth football clubs in Aragon before a series of injuries ended his playing career. He decided to stay involved in football as a coach, earning his qualification in 2010. He spent several years at CD Valdefierro and later worked with the first team at At Calatayud as assistant manager and fitness coach. Subsequently, he joined the coaching staff for Real Zaragoza’s youth teams. He currently serves at CD Cortes in Navarre’s Third Division.
Relationship with Futbol Emotion
Luis has known Futbol Emotion practically since the brand’s beginning. He has been a regular customer both in-store and online, and he has enjoyed attending their events—especially the “battles,” which he never missed.

Differences in Grassroots Football Across Clubs
According to Luis, there are clear differences between clubs in terms of players’ physical, technical, and tactical levels. These gaps can be reduced through consistent daily work. However, the biggest differences lie in equipment and resources; smaller clubs operate with tighter budgets and fewer training resources.
Player Development: Technical and Tactical Skills
Luis believes that basic technical and tactical concepts should be introduced in an integrated, age-appropriate way from the very start of a player’s development. Football must be taught holistically, giving players the tools to handle the game’s variability.
Coaching Style and Training Sessions
Luis describes himself as a demanding coach who gives his all while ensuring players enjoy training. He aims for dynamic, intense, and high-standard sessions that develop players fully and ensure clear understanding of the objectives. He emphasizes a holistic view of each moment and aspect of the session—teaching more than just how to kick a ball.

Futbol Emotion Academy in Zaragoza
The launch of Futbol Emotion Academy has been a resounding success. Luis notes that it grows stronger every day, with players developing, learning, and having fun. The goal is to continue expanding exponentially and become the leading academy in Spain. He sees the academy as essential extra training that clearly benefits the players.
Advice for Young Players
Luis encourages young players to enjoy football—a wonderful sport where they can learn something new every day, make friends, and break out of their daily routine. Football helps develop work ethic, sacrifice, and respect for others. He advises them to fight for their dreams and enjoy the essence of football with passion.
