Structure and Activities at the Clinic

The clinic was organised in collaboration with CD San Pio X at its school and facilities. Santisteban worked alongside coordinator Asier Calvo and instructors Carlos Rodriguez and Mario Cid, all experts in grassroots goalkeeping. They agreed on several unbreakable rules for the event:

Methodological training adapted to different age groups.
A focus on fun during the hours spent together.
A different competition at the end of each day for participants.

Goalkeepers were divided by age, allowing rotations with all monitors each day. Different tasks at each stage provided variety in exercises, with learning taking place progressively.

The clinic was held at the “Los Cerros” Municipal Complex in a neighbourhood relatively close to Valladolid city centre. Santisteban notes that the venue is easy to reach and run by a capable team. The main objective for the club is to give its people opportunities and promote them to new opportunities, which this collaboration with Futbol Emotion Academy provides.

Santisteban explains that every club brings its own identity to youth training. Together with Asier Calvo, Santisteban adjusts training sessions session by session, adding nuances to ensure all goalkeepers assimilate what they are doing. If progress is not seen in any player, they pause and establish guidelines so no one is left behind in their learning. He emphasises that it is always better to repeat than to progress without foundations.

Start of the Season at Futbol Emotion Academy in Valladolid

Santisteban reports that despite a delayed start due to setting up a new project in the city, goalkeepers have quickly identified with the academy. The number of participants has grown and progressed. Notably, goalkeepers who initially signed up for just one month have renewed their commitment for the full course, which he considers a clear sign of satisfaction with the work being done.

Why Goalkeepers Should Join Technical Schools, Clinics, or Camps

Santisteban recommends that goalkeepers come with enthusiasm to become part of the Futbol Emotion family. He stresses that the experience is serious, rigorous, and very satisfying. Santisteban’s advice is simple: never lose enthusiasm for being a goalkeeper. Let desire overcome laziness or adversity that comes with trying to be a goalkeeper. He reminds young players that goalkeepers are different but also the best, because they not only try to do their own job well but also help correct the mistakes of others. The profession will fill them with pride in knowing they are useful, important, and indispensable.
