The ongoing resurgence of Barcelona-based label MEYBA takes an unexpected detour into the kitchen. By joining forces with Tamila – the modern curry house from the team behind The Tamil Prince – the brand fuses football, fashion, and the ritual of the British pub: beer, a pie, and the beautiful game.
MEYBA’s recent revival has seen the label stretch well beyond its Catalan roots, using match shirts as a canvas for collaborations with music festivals, record labels, and cultural institutions. Now, for the first time, it partners with a restaurant – and one with deep cultural significance.

A Jersey That Blends Terrace Heritage with Curry-House Warmth
The MEYBA x Tamila shirt channels nostalgia, reworking a classic terrace aesthetic through Tamila’s identity. An embroidered Tamil Football Club badge – created exclusively for this release – sits on the chest, while the colour palette takes cues from the rich, spice-infused tones found in Tamila’s branches in King’s Cross and Clapham. The result is football tradition reframed for the present.

Design Details That Celebrate South Indian Identity
Turn the shirt and the story becomes more personal. The number 5 is printed in Tamil script, positioned below the Indian flag – a quiet but deliberate reference to Tamila’s South Indian origins. A retro-inspired collar completes the vintage feel, anchoring the piece to the era when MEYBA first became synonymous with football.
Behind the Collaboration: Curry, Pints, and Football
“People have been asking us for years about merch,” says Glen Leeson, co-founder of The Tamil Prince. “But we didn’t want to do it just for the sake of it. When we started talking to the MEYBA team over a few beers and a biryani, it just clicked. Curry, pints and football. What else do you need?”

For MEYBA, the partnership is another step in redefining what a football brand can represent. “As a challenger brand, we’re always looking for collaborators who stand for something,” said Jonathan Jones, Head of Global Marketing at MEYBA. “Over the last two years, we have collaborated with amazing music artists, record labels and festivals, but this concept really captured the team’s imagination, combining all the things we love, to create a shirt that is truly timeless.”

The MEYBA x Tamila shirts are set for release on 27 August.
