In recent years, the American brand focused primarily on improving the upper, but the 2022 generation arrives with a host of new features. Backed by a major advertising campaign, the Air Zoom Mercurial marks one of Nike Football’s most significant launches, introducing a speed boot built for modern play.
Design
The launch edition colourway is white – an elegant shade that suits any boot. Nike presents the technological advances in a visually striking way, making it immediately clear that this is a new generation of what many consider the number one football boot on the planet. Shell

The Vaporsite+ technology also brings greater flexibility, enhanced durability, and improved grip when in contact with the ball, while retaining the ACC (All Conditions Control) treatment.
Sole
The sole plays a more prominent role in this generation, housing the main innovation: Nike’s Air Zoom units. These classic air chambers, familiar from the brand’s high-performance running shoes, give the boots their name and a new level of responsiveness.
The studs have also been updated in both design and layout on the forefoot. While the pattern echoes previous models, it has been refined for modern football demands, making the boots more aggressive with greater responsiveness in sudden changes of direction and increased power during sprints.
