Nike has unveiled the all-new Air Zoom Mercurial, a boot engineered specifically for the demands of modern soccer. Featuring a three-quarter-length articulated Zoom airbag placed inside the plate, a reworked Vaporposite+ upper, and a Tri-Star stud pattern, the boot aims to improve energy return, ball control, and multidirectional movement.
New Zoom Airbag for Propulsive Energy Return
The updated Air Zoom Mercurial introduces an articulated, three-quarter-length Zoom airbag that sits directly inside the plate. This design brings the foot closer to the ground, delivering a snappy, propulsive energy return. Flex grooves in the airbag allow for natural foot movement to match the dynamic demands of the game.

Vaporposite+ Upper with Speed Cage Support
The upper features Vaporposite+, an evolution of the previous Vaporposite material. It combines a grip‑enhancing chevron mesh with a Flyknit lining to aid ball control at high speeds.
“While sprinting and cutting at high speeds, it’s important that the footballer feels secure in the boot. The Vaporposite+ upper was further refined to provide a lockdown fit through a data driven designed speed cage providing optimal support of the foot in areas where footballers need it most,” said Collin Eder, Senior Director of Global Football Footwear at Nike.
Tri-Star Stud Pattern for Lateral and Downhill Movement
A new Tri-Star stud pattern appears on the Air Zoom Mercurial. The stud design helps players move laterally and downhill, enabling faster play in all directions. This stud configuration will be available across Men’s, Women’s, and Kids cleats.
Release Information and Sustainability
The Nike Air Zoom Mercurial will debut on pitch in the Bonded colorway during all women’s tournament play this summer. Pairs are expected to become available at retail on July 1.
The Academy and Club models in this season’s Mercurial line are made with at least 20% recycled content by weight, supporting Nike’s 2025 Impact targets.
