Liquid chrome is a technique originally used to apply a shiny, protective metallic finish to metal surfaces. For this collection, Nike adapted the look to football footwear, creating a reflective, mirror-like appearance that reacts to movement and stadium lighting.
Nike’s designers aimed to produce a metal finish that “would look alive when moving”. The reflective surface also creates visual effects that can distort the ball’s shape in the player’s view.
Design and Performance Considerations
