Nike “Dream Speed” Superfly – Up Close + Performance

The first release in the Mercurial Dream Speed series offers a unique interpretation of speed, designed for the fastest footballers on earth. This edition combines a vibrant “Blue Void/Metallic Silver/White” colorway with the technical foundation of the Nike Mercurial Superfly 7 Elite. Here, we take an up-close look at the design and performance of this limited-edition boot.

Design and Build

Upper Construction

The Nike Mercurial Superfly 7 Elite features a 360-degree high-tenacity Flyknit yarn upper, complemented by a new ultra-thin NikeSkin overlay. This combination delivers a softer, more form-fitting feel than previous Superfly versions, with increased pliability for high-speed ball control.

Soleplate and Traction

The improved soleplate offers greater reactivity and higher energy return with each step. Nike has introduced a new Aerotrak zone along with a slightly stiffer chassis to enhance traction and acceleration.

The Dream Speed Design Details

The first Dream Speed edition follows the theme of the “DNA of speed,” inspired by a Mercurial Superfly schematic. The upper features perforation patterns, registration marks, crop lines, color codes, a scale ruler, and other technical graphic elements that reveal how the boot is built.

Bold blue coloring takes cues from blueprints. A metallic finish, subtly sparkling laces, and a magnified faded Swoosh create a sense of movement even when the boot is stationary. The numbers “10A” and “73P” represent the colors white and barely volt, which appear across the Nike logo. On the lateral side of the heel, a “001” logo with an iridescent finish signals this is the first iteration of the series. A “44.7 km/h” marking next to the strike zone represents the dream speed for any footballer.

Fit and On-Foot Feel

Like the entire Mercurial series, the Dream Speed Superfly fits tight and secure. The boot wraps the foot like a cocoon, with a locked-down feel. The upper is slightly more rigid than expected from a yarn-based material. Underfoot, the soleplate delivers an impressive snapback and a little extra stiffness to help players push off the ground at speed.

Who Is This Boot For?

The Superfly 7 is designed specifically for players who already understand the Mercurial fit and feel. If you are familiar with how previous Superfly models perform, you will know exactly what to expect when stepping into this latest edition.
