The Nike Mercurial football boot range has long been the ultimate symbol of speed on the pitch, but it is also known for bold aesthetics. One of the most striking designs in its history is the Mercurial Safari print, originally worn by Cristiano Ronaldo in November 2010. This unique look combines a tonal reflective finish with a non-reflective chevron pattern that catches the light in a distinctive way.

The Origins of the Safari Print
Although the Safari print became famous in football, it did not originate there. Nike first introduced the pattern on its Air Safari running shoes in 1987. The unexpected aesthetic transformed the design of high-performance footwear. Tinker Hatfield, Nike’s innovative designer and the father of the Air Jordan series, began exploring non-traditional materials, patterns, and colours. He conceived the now legendary ostrich skin print that defines the Safari look.

“The Air Safari proved that you can create a sports shoe that is both beautiful and distinctive without compromising on high-performance functionality,” said Hatfield, Nike’s vice-president of creative design. “It helped people make a personal style statement, whether they were wearing it for a run or a night out.” The Mercurial Vapor SuperFly II version of these boots shone in an exceptional way, glowing under certain light. Each pair came with a unique user code to unlock insider training tips from top players and coaches via Nike Football+.

Design and Technology
Among the new features introduced with this boot is Nike Flywire technology. This lightweight material forms the upper, increasing the range of motion while locking the foot into the sole. The design ensures maximum energy transfer from the foot to the ground, much like a bridge.

Technical Features of the Nike Mercurial Superfly Safari
The upper of these Nike football boots offers a truly superior fit. The Silver Safari design combines silver, yellow, and black, creating a look that is both bold and nostalgic. The traction on this boot is very aggressive, allowing sprinters to give their all in every race. Like the Nike Spectrum Pack (the boots worn by Kylian Mbappé), the Mercurial Superfly Safari sits at the top of the football boot rankings.
