Nike Mercurial Superfly 7 CR7 JNR Boot Review

This review comes from a youth soccer player who tested the Nike Superfly 7 Academy CR7 boot for a week. The boot features a distinctive Safari print design and offers a unique fit that balances flexibility with control. Below are the key findings on design, fit, touch, and overall performance from a young athlete’s perspective.

Design and Appearance

The Safari print design on the boot reminded the tester of a Dalmatian pattern. The first impression was that the boots looked like “Dalmatian boots,” which made them stand out visually. The bold, spotted look is a key feature of the CR7 edition.

Fit and Comfort

The tester wore a size 2C (their usual size) and found the fit interesting. The ankle collar is tight enough to keep the boot securely on the foot but is also highly flexible, bending easily in either direction. Unlike some other boots with ankle collars, this one was not uncomfortable. The upper part of the boot is loose enough to allow foot movement without being overly roomy. The toe area is also wider than some other boots, avoiding the pinched feeling often experienced with narrower designs.

Touch and Control

The outer material of the boot feels tough. When receiving a ball, it stops cleanly on the foot without bouncing off. Aerial balls are easy to control, and the boot seems to hold the ball like a magnet. The shape of the boot from ankle to toe is flatter and more pointed than rounded boots, which helps with striking and hooking the ball. The tester described the shape as resembling a shovel, making it easy to strike the ball hard despite the looser fit. Control over the ball felt natural, as if the boot allowed precise direction of touches.

Comparison to Nike PhantomVSN

The tester previously wore the Nike PhantomVSN boots and found them very comfortable and easy to wear. They were surprised that the Superfly felt very similar in terms of comfort and striking ability. Both boots were rated highly, with the Superfly offering a comparable experience in a different design.

Overall Impressions

The tester believes other kids will enjoy these boots for several reasons: the attractive colors, the unique shape, the cool ankle collar, and the overall comfort. The boots gave the feeling of striking the ball like a professional player. The Safari print design also adds to the appeal for younger players looking for something distinctive.
