Nike Mercurial Superfly “Mbappé Flames” – Up Close

Originally released in November, the Nike Mercurial Superfly “Mbappé Flames” has become one of the top selling boots since the start of 2022. Seen on Kylian Mbappé during a potentially career-defining year, this signature colorway blends bold graphics with performance-focused updates.

Design and Colorway

The overall design on the Mercurial silo is highlighted by a stylized KM flame insignia and layered flames graphics. The official colorway is listed as Light Thistle/Indigo Burst/Bright Crimson/Metallic Silver. The side Swoosh is engulfed in red flames that switch to blue as you move toward the heel. Depending on the amount of light that hits it, the colors sway from neutral to dynamic flare. The fiery design evokes Mbappé’s explosive speed and relentless pace.

Fit and Sizing

Compared to previous Mercurial releases, this boot is a lot more accommodating and provides some additional width to suit a wider audience. However, they are still a Mercurial geared toward speed, so the silhouette is intended to be sleek and aerodynamic. For a medium/wide fit, the forefoot offers enough space not to impact performance, but wide‑fitting players may want to try them on before buying.

Performance Features

Upper and Lockdown

The stripped-down Flyknit upper delivers a distraction‑free feel while reducing weight. Under the upper and around the forefoot, a new Speed Band keeps you locked in and ready to accelerate. “Avail Q” lining is a new microfiber application that adds a tactile surface across the upper for better ball control at high speeds.

Soleplate and Traction

Underfoot, Nike uses the latest forward‑thinking Aerotrak 2 soleplate. It is all about speed, with specially designed grooves for explosive acceleration. Chevron studs provide instant multidirectional traction for quicker cuts at high speed on firm ground surfaces.

Weight

At 7.4 oz, the boot is one of the lightest on the market currently.

Availability

This pack has been one of the best selling of the year to date. Everything from the Superfly to the Academy model with dynamic collars were released, including IC and TF versions. Finding pairs in the right size may require checking remaining stock.
