The Nike Phantom football boot range has been updated with a second version of the two designs, featuring a redesigned upper that is now identical for both the GX and Luna. The key distinction remains the Luna’s high collar, reminiscent of the Nike Magista. Nike has also introduced a new outsole and refined the upper materials to improve grip and fit.
Redesigned Upper: Shared Construction with Added Texture
The upper is now the same for both the Phantom GX and Luna. The only difference is that the Luna has a high collar, similar to the Nike Magista.
The main material remains Gripknit, a Flyknit derivative that provides a sticky grip. It is now combined with the touch reinforcements previously seen in the Luna. The result is a more textured upper that retains the ‘sticky’ feel of the Phantom GX.
The double-layer shell and ghost laces have been removed. The collar is raised in both versions, offering extra reinforcement around the ankle – a feature that may suit some players more than others.
Cyclone360 Outsole: Traction and Lateral Support
Nike has introduced the new outsole from the Phantom Luna, equipped with Cyclone360 technology. This outsole provides traction in the forefoot while also offering extra support for lateral movements, helping to reduce the risk of injury during quick changes of direction.
Wider Fit and Improved Comfort
The last is wider than in previous versions, providing more room in the toe area. Despite the raised collar, the boot profile is slightly higher and the fit is slightly lower than earlier models – a distinction that aligns with the Mercurial line.
