Cristiano Ronaldo has had a landmark week. The Portuguese forward surpassed Raúl González to become Real Madrid’s all-time top scorer with 324 goals and also reached 500 career goals across his spells at Sporting CP, Manchester United, Real Madrid, and the Portugal national team. To celebrate these milestones, Nike has unveiled two special-edition Mercurial Superfly boots inspired by Ronaldo’s favorite pair from his early career.

When Nike asked Ronaldo which boots from his time with the brand meant the most to him, his answer was immediate: the Nike Mercurial Vapor III worn during the 2005–2006 season. These boots, now over a decade old, are remembered as a standout model in the Mercurial line.
The Evolution of the Mercurial Vapor III
The current Mercurial range is in its 10th generation, but the Vapor III belongs to the third generation of the silo. In the build-up to the 2006 FIFA World Cup in Germany, Nike aimed to add more structure to the ultra-lightweight Vapors for improved comfort. While the update succeeded in that regard, the boots still lacked sufficient grip for optimal touch in wet conditions.

Nike has remade the Mercurial Superfly with design elements borrowed from Ronaldo’s favorite Vapor III. Two distinct colorways celebrate his recent records.
Mercurial Superfly CR7 324K Gold
This boot features yellow accents and is named after the 324 goals that made Ronaldo Real Madrid’s all-time leading scorer.
Mercurial Superfly CR7 Quinhentos
The second model honors Ronaldo’s 500 career goals scored for Sporting CP, Manchester United, Real Madrid, and the Portuguese national team.
Release Status
As of now, neither pair is available for purchase. However, Ronaldo has been seen training in the new boots, suggesting a public launch may be imminent. Further updates on the release are expected.
