The United States last hosted the FIFA World Cup three decades ago, and as the tournament prepares to return to American soil in 2026, Nike has revealed the new U.S. national team kits. The designs draw inspiration from the iconic 1994 look while updating it for today’s game.

A Nod to the 1994 World Cup Legacy

The 1994 World Cup reshaped football’s standing in North America, helping to change how the sport was perceived across the continent and ultimately laying the groundwork for the launch of Major League Soccer in 1996. That tournament’s U.S. kits used a bold, flag-inspired split: stripes on the home jersey, stars on the away shirt. More than three decades later, those visual cues return, refreshed and refined, as the country builds momentum toward the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Debut in Atlanta and a Unified Identity Across All U.S. Teams

The new kits will make their on-field debut later this month in Atlanta. They arrive at a time of building excitement as the United States gears up to co-host the global tournament. For the first time, every U.S. Soccer national team – from youth sides to the senior squads – will share a single visual identity, using the same crest and design philosophy.

Two Distinct Jerseys: Stars Kit and Stripes Kit

The collection centers on two main shirts: a Stars kit (away) and a Stripes kit (home). A separate goalkeeper jersey continues the “Hollywood Goalkeeper” concept first introduced in December 2025, a project meant to inject flair and personality into the position while celebrating the individuality of players between the posts.

“A national team jersey represents the pride of wearing the crest, not just for players on the field, but also for the fans who support them every step of the way,” said Dave Wright, Chief Commercial Officer of U.S. Soccer. “With the 2026 FIFA Men’s World Cup coming to the United States, we’re excited to see players across all 27 of our National Teams and supporters across the country wearing this kit as we build toward an incredible moment for the game.”

Player Input Shaped the Final Product

As with earlier releases, Nike collaborated closely with the federation and its players throughout the design process. Workshops and listening sessions allowed members of the U.S. Men’s National Team to provide detailed feedback that influenced everything from fabric weight to seam placement. The partnership also extended to testing for fit, mobility, and breathability, ensuring the final product can handle the high-intensity conditions expected during a summer World Cup.

Hidden Details and Custom Typography

Beyond the visible design cues, the collection includes several subtle touches unique to the federation. Each jersey features an “Inner Pride” mark inside the collar – a concealed graphic meant to represent the internal drive players bring to the pitch and to reflect the federation’s “The Best of U.S.” ethos.

For the first time, U.S. Soccer has also developed its own dedicated kit typefaces. The Stars and Stripes fonts were created exclusively for the federation and are set to define the visual identity of U.S. teams for years to come.

“I think between both kits there is something for everybody,” said Ronnie J. Stewart, Global Product Director at Nike. “If you want to be loud and proud and represent the crest, no one’s going to doubt who you’re there for in the light kit. If you’re looking for that lifestyle look that works off the field, the dark is for you.”

Design Philosophy Bridges Past and Future

With a respectful nod to one of the most memorable kit eras in American football history, the new designs serve as a link between past and future. They remind fans how far the sport has come in the United States while pointing toward where it is headed as the world gathers again in 2026.
