Real Betis, through their environmental sustainability platform Forever Green, have released a special-edition shirt made from oranges for their upcoming LaLiga match against Rayo Vallecano. The kit, created in collaboration with hummel, highlights the importance of urban green spaces and marks the fifth milestone in the club’s ongoing sustainability initiative.
The Inspiration: Seville’s Orange Trees

The design draws directly from Seville’s cityscape, where orange trees line the streets and shape the local identity. The shirt features a dominant green tone, layered with a darker shade inspired by orange-tree leaves, and finished with albero — the sandy, sun-worn colour synonymous with Seville’s architecture. The result is a visual tribute to the city’s heritage through a footballing lens.
Scratch-and-Sniff Details
A perforated pattern on the shirt numbers mimics orange peel. The numbers are printed with a 100% chemical-free, sustainably produced scratch-and-sniff ink that releases the scent of orange blossom when rubbed. This olfactory element serves as a sensory reminder of Seville itself.
The Forever Green Journey
This year’s Forever Green theme — “Green living starts in the neighbourhood” — focuses on the value of urban green spaces, particularly the orange trees that act as the lungs of Seville’s neighbourhoods. The shirt transforms a local, circular, and tangible idea into a wearable message.
The orange-based kit is the fifth milestone in the initiative:
- 2022 (vs. Athletic Club): A shirt made from 100% recycled polyester.
- 2023 (vs. RCD Espanyol): A distressed design paying tribute to the “3 Rs” of ecology — reduce, reuse, recycle.
- 2024 (vs. UD Almería): A focus on responsible water management in the face of drought.
- 2025 (vs. Real Sociedad): Highlighting the invasion of the Asian algae Rugulopteryx Okamurae on the Andalusian coast, turning an environmental threat into circular reuse.

More Than a Shirt
In a landscape of frequent kit releases, this edition stands out by crafting purpose rather than chasing hype. It uses football culture to tell a story that goes beyond the pitch, reinforcing the message that sustainability begins in the streets people walk every day.
