SP Football Marks Historic Ligue 1 Debut for Young Goalkeeper

18 September 2022 became a landmark date for the SP Football brand when a young goalkeeper from its roster made his professional debut in Ligue 1. The stage was set at the Francis-Le Blé Stadium during Matchday 8, as Stade Brestois took on AC Ajaccio.

A Moment of Destiny

Ghjuvanni Quilichini, the Corsican team’s number three goalkeeper, began the match on the bench after the second-choice goalkeeper, Sollacaro, was injured. In the 9th minute, a strong collision occurred inside the Ajaccio area, and the starting goalkeeper could not continue. Quilichini’s moment arrived: his debut as a professional player.

The opportunity was a well-deserved reward for years of hard work and sacrifice. He had spent several strong seasons in the AC Ajaccio youth academy and helped the U19 side qualify for the Coupe Gambardella quarter-finals before the pandemic ended the run. His first match reflected that dedication—serious, focused, and always ready to intervene with his feet or his hands.

Quilichini produced several magnificent saves, notably a double save in the first half that prevented the Corsican team from falling behind at half-time. His performance earned him his first clean sheet as a professional and secured AC Ajaccio their first victory of the season.
