Spain’s New Goalkeeper Glove for the 2022 Women’s Euro: SP Earhart Designed for Female Hands

Just 72 hours before Spain’s match against Finland, the Spanish national team announced that Alexia Putellas, the Women’s Ballon d’Or winner, had to withdraw from the competition due to an anterior cruciate ligament injury. With the best footballer on the planet sidelined, Spain will rely on its goalkeepers, who will take to the field with a completely new glove.

A Glove Designed for Women’s Hands

The SP Earhart glove is the only glove in the world optimised for women’s hands. For the European Championship, it changes its appearance, adopting a colourful and striking look. The design is inspired by the Nike Flight ball for the Euro, a ball that features red, light blue and purple shades.

The glove worn by Sandra Paños and Misa Rodriguez has a white base with geometric shapes in those same colours. The aim is to create unity between the ball and the glove. When the goalkeeper holds the ball, the matching colours produce a visual harmony that brings both elements together.

Technical Features of the SP Earhart Glove

Built specifically for the female hand, the glove is smaller and incorporates different technical characteristics. It features a Rollfinger cut covered with high-quality 3.5 mm Gigablock latex and 3 mm foam. The back of the glove is made from a single layer of Latexbody for unprecedented lightness. The knuckle area is completely covered with latex inserts to assist with fist clears. The glove has no closure, is very lightweight, and provides excellent grip thanks to its elastic cuff.
