The inspiration for the striking design of both models in this collection comes from the concept of duality—a parallel journey toward success shared by the two athletes, much like a champion passing the torch to another. Kylian Mbappé and LeBron James are recognised as superstars in their respective sports and as local heroes in their hometowns: Bondy for Mbappé and Akron for James. Both grew up in challenging environments that shaped them as people and players, leading Nike to honour them with this latest tribute.
Design and Key Features
One of the most ingenious elements of the Nike Mercurial “Chosen 2” is the combination of both players’ names in a new graphic created by Nike for this edition, placed on one of the insoles. The letters are arranged so that both “LeBron” and “Kylian” can be read.
The upper part stands out with a KM × LBJ logo integrated into the darker upper, along with a double Swoosh—one for Kylian Mbappé and one for LeBron James. On the toe cap, a graphic reads “Chosen,” and on the sides of the heel, prominent 3D-style KM and LBJ logos emphasise the collaboration. An iridescent finish covers the entire upper and extends down to the sole.
