For Umbro, home has always been Manchester. The latest AW25 Northern Quarter collection marks another chapter in that relationship, returning to the city’s creative hub where football, music, and fashion intersect. Building on the initial drop from earlier this year, the collection now turns its focus squarely on music – the pulse of the Northern Quarter and a force that continues to drive community and innovation.
A Music-Driven Evolution
“Music has always been a pillar of Mancunian culture,” said Helene Hope, Umbro’s Head of Global Brand Marketing. “For that reason, it was a natural focal point for the AW25 iteration of the Northern Quarter collection. With Manchester at its heart, the collection celebrates Umbro’s roots, whilst always looking forward, designing clothes for the creatives of today.”
The collection blends archive references with contemporary design, resulting in a range of casual, sports-inspired streetwear. Classic silhouettes are reworked through a modern lens, drawing on Umbro’s football heritage while embracing current style trends.
Key Pieces: Reversible Crew Top and Outerwear
The standout item is the Reversible Crew Top, a dual-purpose garment that captures the duality of the Northern Quarter. One side channels clean, lightweight training wear, while the reverse transforms into bold, night-out graphics suited for after-dark energy.

Outerwear features prominently. The Waxed Cagoule brings a utilitarian feel, born from the crossover of football terraces and city streets. The Fleece Coach Jacket offers a heavy sherpa construction, marked with Umbro’s oversized double diamond – a bold, unmistakably Manchester statement.

These pieces extend ideas first introduced in the SS25 collection, pushing Umbro’s most recognisable silhouettes into a modern, creative space.
Campaign Shot at Soup
The campaign was captured at Soup, a venue that embodies the Northern Quarter’s DIY spirit and nightlife. It features musicians Ellie, James, and Time Flies – a trio who perform, work, and socialise in the space, adding a layer of genuine, lived-in authenticity.

A Century of Heritage, Reimagined for Today
For over 100 years, Umbro has shaped global sportswear by balancing function with culture. Collaborations with Palace, Supreme, and Aries have reinforced that pioneering reputation. Yet the Northern Quarter project feels different. It is less about global statements and more about coming home – acknowledging the brand’s roots in Manchester’s architecture, attitude, and creative energy, while building a renewed design code for a new generation.
