Juventus Move Closer to the Title
Juventus secured a dominant 4–1 victory in the Turin derby. Cristiano Ronaldo ended a long drought by scoring a spectacular direct free-kick, and Paulo Dybala added a superb goal. Veteran goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon set a new Serie A appearance record with his 648th match. The win all but sealed the league title for Juventus, helped by defeats for their closest rivals. In Spain, the two title rivals both collected three points. Real Madrid edged Athletic Club 1–0 thanks to a Sergio Ramos penalty following a highly controversial incident. Meanwhile, FC Barcelona beat Villarreal 4–1 away, with Antoine Griezmann scoring a stunning header from outside the box that grazed the crossbar on its way into the net.
